Parallèle Reader is designed to keep your reading private. The app does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data about you or your reading activity with the developer or any third-party analytics service.
Everything you create or store in Parallèle Reader stays on your device:
If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, your reading position, highlights, vocabulary, bookmarks, and library metadata sync between your iPhone(s) and iPad(s) through your private iCloud account. This sync goes directly through Apple's iCloud infrastructure and is encrypted end-to-end. The developer does not have access to this data. Disabling iCloud Sync in Settings stops further syncing. To remove already-synced data, you can delete the app's iCloud storage via your iOS device's Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Parallèle Reader.
Parallèle Reader supports two translation backends, both of which you opt into:
Apple Translate: Uses Apple's on-device translation feature on iOS 18 and later. Translation happens entirely on your device; no text is sent to any external server. Apple's privacy practices apply.
DeepL: If you choose to use DeepL, you must provide your own free API key obtained from deepl.com. When DeepL translation is active, text from the book being translated is sent from your device directly to DeepL's servers for translation. The developer does not see, store, or process this data. You can remove the DeepL API key at any time via Settings → Translation → Remove DeepL Key.
In-app purchases (the lifetime unlock) are handled by Apple's App Store and StoreKit framework. Apple processes the payment and manages your Apple ID. The developer does not receive your payment information. Refer to Apple's privacy practices for App Store purchases.
Because Parallèle Reader does not collect personal data, there is no personal data the developer holds that you could request access to, request correction of, or request deletion of.
To remove data stored on your device:
Where applicable laws give you rights regarding personal data (such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation, the UK Data Protection Act, or the California Consumer Privacy Act): because the developer does not collect or hold personal data, these rights are already satisfied by the app's design.
Parallèle Reader is intended for general audiences. The app does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has been provided personal information through the app, please contact the developer — though the app is designed to not collect any personal data in the first place.
If this privacy policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Material changes will be noted in the app or via update release notes.
